Introduction: Texas rigs are one of the most popular ways to rig decoys these days. They are easy to pick up, easy to put out and even easier to store. Typically texas rigs are on short lines, and this is the one downside to these types of rigs; they are usually limited to shallow water applications. Boondock Outdoors has come up with a solution so that texas rigs can be useful and effective in almost any situation.

First Impressions: First thing I noticed about the rigs was the stout heavy duty clip that is used to clip the rig to the decoy. With most rigs this is the point of failure and I have no doubt that these clips should hold up to some serious abuse. The lines are plastic coated steel cable and should hold no memory whatsoever unlike some other brands made with monofilament.

Boondock Outdoors rigs are called Link n’ Sink because that’s exactly what they do. When you buy one rigging system it comes with a dozen 3 foot rigs with 4 ounce weights. They have also included a dozen 2 foot extensions. So, with buying just one set you can hunt in water up to 5 feet deep. If you find yourself needing lines for deeper water you have the option to purchase an expansion pack which includes 6 two foot extensions, and 6 three foot extensions.

Field Test: Rigging up decoys with the Link n’ Sink system is a breeze. The large heavy duty clips attached well to our decoys. The coated steel cables have the right amount of flex to make it easy to manage a lot of decoys at once. The Loops at the end of the rigs are very large, which makes it helpful to grab them when you are wearing gloves and it’s dark out.

The rigs make it easy to group decoys together and never have to worry about tangles.

Setting out the Link n’ Sink system is easy. You simply throw them out and the line will slide through the weight until the weight is sitting on the bottom. When you want to pick them up, you grab the decoy lift it up and grab the loop at the bottom of the line. The easiest thing to do once you have the loop in hand is attach it to a carabiner and continue to do so until all the decoys are picked up. Here is a video of the Link n’ Sink System in use.
If you are in deeper water and need to use one of the extensions it’s all the exact same process. The only thing that changes is that an extension line (2′ or 3′) is connected to the decoy and then to the regular line. All the functions are the same while they remain tangle free and easy to manage.
when you are done hunting for the day you can tie a knot in the lines to help keep everything in order, with the lines being made from coated steel cable they will hold no memory.

Any lengths can be achieved by attaching more extensions to each line. With just the main rig attached the rig is 3ft, add the 2ft link for a 5ft rig and add the 3ft link for a 6ft rig. You are able to add as many lengths as needed in order to reach your desired depth. To keep your decoys nice and organized the best thing to do is have all your decoys set to the same length. This makes it much more convenient when picking up or transporting your decoys. Of course, if you are putting the decoys in individual slot bags it won’t make a difference how long each line is.
